Who

Freedom Fields USA is a Carmel-based non-profit organization dedicated to the humanitarian removal of landmines in war-torn countries.

What

There are an estimated 70 million landmines in at least 90 countries. The vast majority of landmines are planted in countries no longer at war. Landmines kill or injure 15,000-20,000 people each year. This amounts to 2 people per hour. Most victims are civilians; one third of them are children.

Where
FFUSA's current emphasis is in Cambodia, one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. There are an estimated 2 million landmines along a 450-mile stretch of land between Thailand and Cambodia. This region is known as the K5 Mine Belt, and is home to thousands of families.
Why
The objective of FFUSA's landmine clearance is to free areas from mines so that casualty rates will be reduced and land can be reclaimed and resettled. As the land is cleared, it can safely be returned to productive use. It can be farmed and infrastructure can be developed for schools, wells and roads.
How
Through the generosity of our donors, FFUSA is able to raise funds, as well as awareness of the global landmine crisis. These funds enable us to contract with HALO Trust International, an organization specializing in landmine removal. HALO's low overhead ensures that more of FFUSA's donated dollars go directly to our humanitarian de-mining activities.

Freedom Fields USA (FFUSA) is an organization founded on hope.  We, as a group of concerned Americans, have made it our mission to help in the humanitarian demining of war-torn countries.  We feel a patriotic duty and inspired sense of responsibility in today's ever-changing world to act as an example for the global community.  It is our goal to give other families the freedom to raise their children in safety and with hope for their future.

Freedom Fields USA (FFUSA) was founded out of a concern for peace and freedom for all people.  Freedom Fields USA is a non-profit organization of concerned citizens whose focus is the humanitarian demining of war torn countries and their return to a path of economic redevelopment and hope.

Our intention is not only to clear landmines but to raise awareness of the magnitude of this problem.  The presence of landmines and other unexploded remnants of war take its toll impairing victims' lives and livehoods.   The presence of these “hidden killers” hinders peace building, reconstruction, development and establishment of the rule of law and democracy.

As private citizens of one of the world’s most prosperous nations, Freedom Fields USA finds its inspiration in knowing that the price of freedom includes a responsibility to help others who share our world.  This is a lesson of global responsibility and humanitarian concern that we strive to model for our children.

Our partner in this effort is the HALO Trust, an organization which specializes in landmine removal. FFUSA is the single largest cumulative private donor to HALO Cambodia.
